Art (Painting) NCEA Level 3

Art (Painting) NCEA Level 3 requires skills and knowledge from studying Year 12 Art (Painting) NCEA Level 2. Students who have only 8 to 12 credits should consult with the Faculty Head about their likelihood of successful progress. It is preferred that students taking this course have a good ability in English.

Course Description:

The aim of this course is for students to develop an individual style of painting based on and understanding contemporary painting concepts and processes. The ideas explored provide a valuable basis for further study in Art and Design at tertiary level. It is highly recommended for Architecture, spatial design, animation, interior design and entry into a wide range of university courses. Students will pursue a wide range of painting and drawing techniques and have the opportunity to work on individual topics and to develop personal ideas. All work will be informed by research into established forms of painting. A three board folio will be presented for external assessment.
