Background:
The Vocational Pathways Programme provides opportunities for Year 12/13 students to gain foundation skills leading to further study and employment. They will have the opportunity to develop specific career related knowledge and skills while achieving NCEA credits. The focus is on students achieving NCEA Level 2 and gaining a Vocational Pathways Award in a particular sector. Students will be selected for the course after an interview.Course Description:
This course offers students a course that is a balance between their academic programmes and opportunities to gain experience through MIT Academy courses. Students will be out for one day a week at MIT completing a Level 2 course. At MIT students can choose between a wide range of courses and can gain 30 Level 2 credits in addition to the 12VPS course credits listed below. Some examples are: Engineering and Refrigeration, Building and Plumbing, Building and Electrical, Engineering and CAD, Automotive Engineering, Horticulture, Early Childhood Education, Hospitality, Tourism, Retail and Business Administration and Logistics.
