Art (Photography) NCEA Level 2 requires skills and knowledge from studying Year 11 Art. Students who have fewer than 12 Credits in Art (Visual) NCEA Level 1 Art (Design & Photography) NCEA Level 1 should consult with the Faculty Head about their likelihood of successful progress.

Course Description:

Costs: Students will need access to a single lens reflex digital camera. The department has a small supply of Digital SLR cameras which may be hired. A $100.00 contribution will be required to cover maintenance and repairs. The department also has a range of lenses and accessories available for student use. There will be further expenses for photographic papers throughout the year. Course Description: The aim of this course is for students to develop a basic knowledge and understanding of the existing methods and ideas which underpin photography practice. The course seeks to encourage investigation into established art practice and the exploration of practical ideas through a series of internally assessed assignments. They will have the opportunity to specialise in a selected study area where digital technology may be incorporated to extend their ideas. This final work will be presented on folio boards and externally assessed.
