Background:

Art (Design) NCEA Level 2 requires skills and knowledge from studying Year 11 Art. Students who have fewer than 12 Credits in Art (Visual) NCEA Level 1 or Art (Design and Photography) NCEA Level 1 should consult with the Faculty Head about their likelihood of successful progress.

Course Description:

This course aims to introduce students to a wide range of design processes, procedures and techniques through the development of an ongoing design project. Students will work towards the completion of two internal Achievement Standards throughout which they will investigate contemporary artist models and develop an understanding of creative design processes and principles. Computer design programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator are utilised to extend and refine ideas in the production of a body of practical work. Work from the Internal Achievement Standards will contribute to a two board folio submission which will be assessed for the external component of the course.
