This subject is equivalent to a subject on the 'approved list' for University Entrance.

Recommended Background:

Students should have completed AS Spanish or similar. Students who have not completed AS Spanish must apply to the Head of Department to be accepted into the course. This course will be taught as a combined class with AS Spanish (8685).

Course Description:

This course covers reading and writing, essay writing and study of three or more Spanish literary texts. All textual material used in the examination will be drawn from a wide range of topical areas with reference to countries/communities where Spanish is spoken. This course provides a sound foundation for NZQA Scholarship Spanish examinations. Students who choose this subject may have the opportunity to go on a foreign language exchange trip. The five essay writing topics for examination in 2020 are:

Component 1 Speaking External Compulsory Weighting: 20%
Component 2 Reading & Writing External Compulsory Weighting: 35%
