Recommended Background:

AS Level in Design and Photography Students must have achieved Grade C or higher in AS Level Digital Media and Design to proceed to this course of study or HOF approval. Good academic essay writing skills are essential for this course as assessment requires students to present a written component as part of their assessment.

Course Description:

Digital Media and Design A2 Level is a practical and researched based course upon which further study at tertiary levels is based. The aim of the programme is to allow students to pursue a study which uses one or multiple areas of digital photography, moving image and design where research, development and realisation are achieved in depth. Students will have the opportunity to select the tools, techniques and processes in which they work most successfully and are most relevant to their own personal investigation. The personal project will encourage students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students will continue to develop their literacy and research skills in producing a written analysis which relates to their personal area of study to form an integrated submission. Cost: Optional $100-00 Camera Hire Charge. Topics Covered: Research based on a selected art theme, idea / concept or process that is personal to the learner. Investigation of digital photography, moving image and design media conventions specific to the personal project.. Drawing and painting conventions related to selected topic of study Purposefully extending ideas within the selected topic towards finished artworks or design work Final coursework- a completed digital outcome Accompanying written analysis of 1500 words which supports the practical investigation.
