Students must have achieved Grade C or higher in AS Textiles to proceed to this course of study or HOF approval. Good academic essay writing skills are essential for this course as assessment requires students to present a written component as part of their assessment.

Course Description:

Fine Art Textiles A2 Level is a practical and researched based course upon which further study in textiles at tertiary levels is based. The aim of the programme is to allow students to pursue a textiles/ mixed media study where research, development and realisation are achieved in depth. Students will have the opportunity to select the materials, techniques and processes in which they work most successfully. They will experiment with a wide range of processes including Embroidery, applied design, garment construction. Students will produce a written analysis which relates to their personal area of study to form an integrated submission. Topics Covered: Research based on a selected theme, idea concept or process that is personal to the learner. Investigation of designing and applied design processes. Investigation of techniques and processes Product construction, use of materials related to selected topic of study Purposefully extending ideas within the selected topic towards finished items of work. Final coursework completed projects designs Accompanying written analysis of 1500 words which supports the practical investigation.
