This A Level course is offered for the last time in 2019 for students who have completed the AS-9704 course in 2018. Students must have achieved Grade C or better in Art & Design (Painting & Related Media) AS to proceed to this course of study. Good academic essay writing skills are essential for this course because students need to present a 3,500 word document as part of their assessment. Students who have not completed their University Entrance literacy requirements in Year 12 must consult with the Faculty Head to discuss their likelihood of success. CIE students interested in preparing for NCEA Scholarship Visual Arts in Painting may use A Level Painting studies to do this.Course Description:
Art & Design (Painting & Related Media) A Level is a practical and researched based course upon which further study in painting at tertiary levels is based. The aim of coursework is to allow students to pursue a painting study where research, development and realisation are achieved in depth. Students will have the opportunity to select the materials, techniques and processes in which they work most successfully. They will experiment with a wide range of processes including oils, watercolour and acrylic paint. The aim of the personal study is for students to produce a detailed study of any aspect of the visual arts that relates to their coursework. This study is a balance of visual and written analysis not exceeding 3,500 words as a structured presentation.Components:
