Course Description:

This course enables learners to engage in the fine art world of colour, texture, surface shape & pattern. Students are able to move across or study within the areas of costume design, constructed textiles, surface pattern, applied design &/or fashion illustration. There is an emphasis on communication, intention and creativity within the outcomes. Student led individual projects will encourage learners to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. Topics Covered: Elements of visual literacy, design elements. Surface pattern, applied designs processes & techniques. Digital design and computerised machine embroidery. Conceptual designs, both sketching and digital develop ideas and elements. Research skills from looking at Artist models & designers to further inform the body of work.
