Recommended Background:

Open entry. Students who should choose this course are those who: • Have found Year 10 Science challenging, and want to choose the CIE pathway; • Do not yet know what science to choose; • Enjoy Science but don’t plan to take single Science subjects in Year 12. This course can lead to IGCSE or NCEA Level 2 Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics in Year 12; which could then lead to AS or NCEA Level 3 single sciences in Year 13. It does NOT lead to AS single sciences in Year 12, and hence not onto A Levels in Year 13. Students choosing this course CANNOT also choose IGCSE Biology, Chemistry or Physics.

Course Description:

Science is a subject that allows you study the natural phenomena of the world around us. A broad knowledge of science allows informed opinions on controversial ideas to be established such as on global warming or the energy crisis. This course provides experiences in all three key strands of science; the aim is to provide the student with a continued broad science base.
